Ajax Vertical Screw Blenders for Polymer Production

Ajax Vertical Screw Blenders for Polymer Production Solids handling specialist, Ajax Equipment, has supplied a global chemical producer with two large stainless steel vertical screw blenders for polymer powder production in South Korea.

Ajax’s vertical screw blenders feature twin ‘fountain’ mixing screws, with each blender handling batches of up to 8T of polymer powder and additives. The auger and hopper’s internal design work together to provide blending efficiency through optimum flow behaviour and high recirculation rate. The blenders are designed for use in an explosive dust hazard environment.

“Ajax has worked with this customer on a number of handling projects, with the design of these vertical blenders informed by Ajax blenders operated successfully at the company’s UK site for a similar application,” commented Eddie McGee, managing director, Ajax Equipment.

“As well as developing the design to accommodate the large batch size of materials involved, Ajax worked to ensure that the equipment met Korean standards and even provided seismic load calculations. Production of the blenders in our Bolton works began just as COVID 19 began to take hold in the UK but our team showed a great 'can do' attitude to complete and deliver within the critical path of the new South Korean plant.”
